Finally I have a blog program that is *really* a blog program that resides on my own server and I have complete control over. There are still a few little bugs to work out before we market the blog program, but it's exactly what I was hoping for! I've added all the older blogs from the two different past blog sites I had (dutifully noting September 2003 had almost daily posts and things after that got VERY sparse), so nothing has gone to the wayside! Progress on the Back YardTwo years ago, we wiped out the back yard and seeded it. This year, we destroyed it again with a different plan. I was intent on having a vegetable garden, so Richard pulled out the stops to make it happen. Wanting the garden area to be level, he set out on a most unbelievable journey. Deere John moved back in with us for awhile. Drainage is not good on our sloped land, and we really wanted to circumvent problems this round by putting in a dry river bed (flows pretty heavily in a good rain). Months of time and loads of river rock later, we had that part finished. UNTIL Richard decided he wanted a pond...

The pond's been an interesting one. Richard has tried everything, including concreting over the mud, then adding sand and a liner above the concrete, then having to add concrete over the liner (don't ask)... BUT - as of now - I think we're finally getting somewhere! With the usual little problems we always seem to have when we do any of our home improvement jobs. Notice the three *** in the Pond Started caption? Well, notice the truck... Ummm... Hard to see? Try this larger image:
Yes, that would be the Boy's Toy Truck, buried a good 2+ feet below ground level RIGHT where the french drain (our third) almost worked out. French drain project underway again...
