Well, so far, it’s been an interesting trip. I’m blogging this to the pc from the airplane between Atlanta and Cancun. I can’t talk to Richard, since he’s not here. Why? Well, although he asked me at LEAST 4 times in the past several days if I had his birth certificate (his passport expired this past April), and although I *assured* him I did, apparently I lied. What I had was one of those cool little certificates issued by the hospital at birth, NOT the appropriate legal certificate. Ooops… Mom and dad dropped us off at the Chattanooga airport 30 minutes before departure (which is what we wanted), and left. It was at the ticket counter that we were informed I brought the wrong documents for Richard. Faced with an immediate decision, *I* opted to take the flight; Richard had to find a way home, reschedule for another flight, and then, find the correct documents to travel. With the delays, I just *almost* missed the Chattanooga to Atlanta flight. The boarding call had already been given before I went through the screening process – then, while IN screening, I realized that Richard (not with me) had all the money! I had to exit the screened area, go back downstairs to the ticket counter, get money from Richard, run like *mad* back to the screening area… When I got to the gate, everyone had boarded and the attendant had already left the check-in counter – but they took me at the desk and sent me on my way. The layover in Atlanta was fine – boarded the flight I’m on now with no problems. We were ready to close the doors for a 6-minute-early departure when the captain decided there wasn’t enough air in one of the tires. OK – that shouldn’t take long. EXCEPT… the maintenance crew decided to CHANGE the tires. We took off 35 minutes late. I don’t mind. I sure hope the fella that’s supposed to pick me up at the airport in Cancun waits for me, tho!!! More after arrival… I made it!!!Well, I'm here, safe and sound, and everything is LOVELY! I'm adjusting clumsily - so far I've already forgotten there was a step down from the bathroom to the bedroom, so I kinda almost fell and put a nasty bruise on my arm. Then, I went for a walk on the beach. Apparently, it's high tide, as I couldn't get to Playa Del Carmen from Playacar. I didn't realize I totally couldn't - I tried. After being DRENCHED by waves, I meekly returned home, showered and changed. I have started my Mexico Vacation Photo Gallery - please be sure to visit. I'll add to it daily! I went outside on the lanai and positioned my hand wrong to open the screen door (don't ask) and took a big hunk of skin off my left middle knuckle. Dare I try walking to town for dinner??? Hmmm... Richard's StoryRichard couldn't find his Birth Certificate. He did, however, find an agency in Atlanta that could issue something to get him here, but he had to drive to Atlanta today, get the (whatever it is), drive back to Chattanooga, then will go to the airport in the morning to catch a flight. He is so far scheduled to arrive in Cancun at 10:00 am tomorrow, will have to take a bus here, and I imagine he'll arrive between 11:30 and 12:30 CDT tomorrow. I'll meet him at the bus station in Playa Del Carmen - it's just a short walk, and I brought his luggage with me on my flight, so it's not going to be a problem. That's it for today - going to go look at that ocean again! |
