OK, I may have inadvertenty poked fun at the homemade filter Richard constructed within a Rubbermaid bin. If I did, I take it all back. The pond is looking beautiful today! From a glance (below), you'll barely see (I made blow-ups for you) Scat, our turtle, and some of the goldfish enjoying the new habitat. 
The amazing thing to point out here is that only yesterday, Kristen was playing in the pond - having a blast. The fountain was turned up to 8', and she considered it to be her personal playground (Richard didn't like that too much). Sand and dirt combined with the movement in the water and it was, quite frankly, a bit of a mess. Afterward, we had a rather heavy rain, which of course washed a bit MORE debris down the dry river bed into the pond. The results of a wonderfully engineered filter design have cleaned the whole thing up, less than 24 hours later! Look at that crystal clear water coming from the filter:
