Elementary School TestingWe have here an annual testing of school children. In *our* state, it is called "TCAP". It was initiated to test children to determine the worth of the TEACHER, not of the student. I don't know WHERE that went amiss, because I'm sure it is still used to assess the teachers across the USA, but more so, to assess the knowledge of the students ... Not the right reason for kids at such a young age...
Today was the final day of testing (testing ran Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday). The kids are VERY relieved that it is over! I was sitting at my computer, and spotted Kristen, Joseph (top left, he lives next door, the house you can barely see in the background), and Curtis (top right, he lives about one block away), coming down my lawn. I yelled "FREEZE"!!!!! They froze in their tracks. I yelled, "DON'T MOVE!!!"... Then I grabbed my camera and ran out the front door. The kids all have snow-cones, and are having a GREAT time being finished with a VERY intensive testing period!!! Now, they have settled in the den, presumably with a GameCube game and competing with one another on that platform... In the Meantime...Still working hard to get everything in order in the new business. We have MANY new templates online, which I've not posted here, so please just go take a look in the Latest Templates sections of FP2000/2002/2003 and DWT. We are also working up two new database driven program templates, as well as working on several custom jobs. My Atkins Diet UpdateI forgot to mention - I weighed in two days ago, from the March 27 weigh-in of 168 pounds to the current weigh-in of 162.5 pounds... Another 5 and one half pounds gone! WOO-HOO!!! SO, from February 27 through April 3 (5 weeks and 1 day), I am down a total of 15.5 pounds! Good deal! The Impending Transplant UpdateLen (the recipient) had his follow-up stress test yesterday. Now we are just waiting for the results to be read, documented, and faxed to UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) so we can be re-evaluated by the board for the transplant surgery. Pray with me. We really want this to be expedited! |
