Sept 14, 2003As was promised in the weather reports for the past several days, we did indeed have thundershowers today. Well, now that I think of it, I never heard thunder. We DID have a few very heavy rains, though. Sunday School and church were awesome. We learned today that the church personnel committee has made a decision on a new Associate Pastor/Minister of Education; he will be preaching in both morning services this next Sunday, will be here with his family from Wednesday THROUGH Sunday, for meetings and such, and the church will vote on Sunday night. The current Minister of Education will turn to focus his attention on hospitals, bereavement and counseling, where he is very suited to serve. Yard Stuff
Back Northeast Garden "Before" Deere John is with us just today, and likely won't be back. We wanted to optimize our time together this trip. I pointed to the back "garden" (HA!) - a place that was ONCE a garden but has gone to the dogs in the past decade due to neglect and my overwhelming fear of snakes (which DO, by the way, love to roam about our back yard). Anyway, Richard was up to the challenge, and we've leveled it all.
Back Northeast Garden "After" What a large area THAT effort cleared! The very "white" appearance of the soil above is due to the sandiness of that area; apparently the person building that garden laid a bed of sand, covered with plastic, then covered with topsoil and bark to "build" the garden. We'll see how that new Man's Vehicle works bringing in some topsoil in the future. Plans? We're flipping coins right now. Richard's thinking just grass, or maybe build a gazebo there? I'm thinking nice shade plants, such as ferns, elephant ears, hostas, and a few rhododendrons. We'll see. Obviously we have MORE than enough to keep us busy around here... Maybe we'll take those pines down... *smiles* As we continue to destroy (errr - sorry "reconstruct")...I think this is the best thing that could have happened to our back yard. In retrospect, we NEVER "used to have a yard there" - we merely used to have ground with mowed weeds there! The destruction continues, surely to be followed by some REAL yard of sorts...

Mind you, when I got up this morning, there was something that RESEMBLED grass over the entire area you now view as either dirt or mud, depending on your monitor's color settings... DreamsI have a lot of similar, if not repetitive, dreams. Last night, I had the running "successfully" dream. So different from the "I couldn't run if I had to" dream... I was able to run in my dream, and that means a lot to me. Normally, I can NOT run in dreams. I can often FLY, but can not run. That causes difficulties when you are in a particular nightmare where you NEED to run.... |
